Quests

Quests are your primary activity during the prologue (levels 1–20). They’re how you earn credits, XP, affinity growth, and rare drops. Every quest costs energy and time, but they differ dramatically in what they offer.

Quest Types

Main Quests

The backbone of your progression. Main quests are long, strategic, and reward the most XP and credits. They’re also the primary source of blueprint drops.

Tip: Start a main quest before you put the game down. The timer runs while you’re away, and you’ll collect rewards when you return.

Quick Quests

Fast, low-commitment tasks for micro-sessions. Good for spending leftover energy, but rewards are modest.

Side Quests

The depth layer. Side quests offer unique items, lore, NPC interactions, and cosmetic rewards. They’re where the world-building lives.

Star Ratings

Every quest is rated 1–3 stars based on your performance. Three factors determine your rating:

  1. Time efficiency — Did you complete within the optimal window?
  2. Resource investment — Did you put in the right effort for the quest type?
  3. Decision quality — For strategic quests, did you make good choices?

Why Stars Matter

The best rewards are gated behind star ratings:

Chasing 3 stars is the primary replay incentive. A quest you’ve already completed can still yield new blueprints and commendations on a 3-star replay.

Quest Requirements

Quests may have soft gates that limit access:

  • Level requirement — You must be at least this level to attempt the quest.
  • Reputation gate — A minimum standing/clearance level at your agency.
  • Affinity gate — A minimum score in one or more affinities (e.g., “Requires Technical 30”).

These gates are thresholds, not locks. Any player can reach any threshold with enough play. Gates encourage you to develop specific strengths while keeping everything accessible eventually.

An Important Rule

Quests never fail in the prologue. You’ll always complete them — the question is how well. This keeps the early game frustration-free while still rewarding skill and investment. Failure becomes possible in the tycoon phase, where the stakes are higher and you’re more invested.
