Tasks
Tasks are your primary activity during the prologue (levels 1–20). Norvic assigns them to you as an employee — you’re the dispatched crew. Each task costs energy, you choose how much effort to put in, and you get instant results. No waiting, no timers.
How Tasks Work
- Browse — see available tasks filtered by your chosen path
- Read the brief — understand what you’re getting into
- Choose your effort level — Careful, Balanced, or Bold
- Get results — star rating assigned instantly, rewards granted
Energy is the only time-gate. When you’re out of energy, you wait for it to refill (or buy a refill with Ions). That’s it — no idle timers, no mission durations.
Task Types
Core Tasks
The backbone of your story. Hand-crafted tasks tied to NPCs, narrative beats, and career-defining moments. These are the tasks that matter.

Core tasks advance your story, introduce characters, and shape your affinities. When you see one available, prioritize it.
Side Tasks: Quick
Low-effort, low-reward tasks for spending leftover energy. Good for grinding affinity XP or earning a few extra credits between core tasks.

Side Tasks: Special
High-risk, high-reward gambles. These cost serious energy and the outcome swings hard based on your effort choice. The Bold option really matters here.

Effort Levels
Before every task, you choose how much of yourself to put in. Think of it as “How hard do I try on this assignment?”

Your affinity match quietly nudges the odds — if you’re strong in what the task demands, Bold becomes less risky. Same effort on the same task can give different results each time (there’s always a random element). Realistic — some days you nail it, some days you don’t.
Star Ratings
Every task is rated 1–3 stars. Your rating comes from your effort choice, a random factor, and how well your affinities match the task.

Replay System
Not all tasks can be replayed. Each task has its own rules:
- Critical core tasks — no replay. One shot, live with it.
- Standard core tasks — one retry within 24 hours.
- Training side tasks — replay up to 3 times, anytime.
- Special side tasks — one retry within 12 hours.
When you replay, energy cost is reduced to about 70–80% (you’ve done it before). Your best star rating is kept — you’re trying to improve your record, never risking your progress.
Task Requirements
Tasks may have soft gates that limit access:
- Level requirement — you must be at least this level.
- Reputation gate — minimum standing/clearance at Norvic.
- Affinity gate — minimum score in one or more affinities (e.g., “Requires Technical 30”).
These are thresholds, not locks. Any player can reach any threshold with enough play.
An Important Rule
Tasks never fail in the prologue. You always complete them — the question is how well. This keeps the early game frustration-free while rewarding smart effort choices. Failure becomes possible in the tycoon phase, where the stakes are higher and you’re managing crew instead of being crew.
